Mary-Ann Roche walking on the beach with her small white dog at golden hour.

I’m Mary-Ann.

I’ve been a wife. Raised children. Been divorced. Started businesses, some that worked and some that didn’t. Made oh so many mistakes, changed direction and adapted more times than I care to remember. But one thing I do know, at least for me, is that life doesn’t always go according to plan.

Somewhere in all of that, I started thinking about a question nobody seems to talk about much.

What happens after those busy years slow down?

Not the building-a-career, raising-a-family, holding-it-all-together years. The ones after that. When the responsibilities shift, there’s more room to breathe, and a whole new set of questions turns up that nobody warned you about.

That’s why I started She Has Returned.

Why this exists

For women looking at the decades ahead.

There’s no shortage of advice for women in their twenties and thirties — books, podcasts, endless content about careers, kids, relationships, building a life.

Nobody’s really talking to the women who’ve already done most of that. The questions change once you get here:

  • What do I actually want now?
  • How do I want to spend my time?
  • What still interests me?
  • What’s possible now that wasn’t before?
  • What does the next chapter actually look like?

She Has Returned is where I try to answer that honestly, without dressing it up.

What this is

Straight talk, sent when there’s something worth saying.

Not a program. Not therapy. Not coaching. Just real writing about the things that have and continue to come up for me — and probably you too — identity, freedom, reinvention, family, money, health, purpose, and the unglamorous mechanics of change.

You’ll hear from me every so often, not on some guaranteed schedule. When there’s something worth writing, I write it and send it.

Who it’s for

Women who want it straight.

If you’re navigating some kind of change, weighing up a new direction, or just sick of content that talks around things instead of through them — this is for you.

Also for anyone who just likes reading something real about what it’s actually like to be at this point in life.

Our free guide

The Return

Five short chapters, about twenty minutes of reading. It covers a lot of what shows up throughout everything I write — identity, freedom, reinvention, and what actually opens up once you get to this stage.

Free. You get it the moment you subscribe. Unsubscribe whenever you want, no hard feelings.

How to reach me

Write to me.

I like hearing from people who read this. Question, disagreement, your own story — whatever it is, I read every email myself.
